Charles Dickens Museum Canopy

Kennedy Woods Architecture designed and installed an elegant, fully-retractable custom built waterproof canopy operated by a Robinson-esque mechanism allowing the museum to extend the life of their beautiful courtyard garden to include drizzly days and evening events.

The project, driven by a sensitivity to the delicate context of the charming existing garden, dictated a challenging but rewarding construction process, concealing much of the structure below the ground, resulting in the effect of a floating ceiling that recesses and almost disappears into the back walls of the garden.
