Tate Modern Restaurant

Kennedy Woods worked with the events team at the Tate Modern to provide a feasibility study for a summer bar-restaurant and art-hub on the riverfront in front of this world-renowned gallery. The constraints of the design were to integrate existing reclaimed shipping containers they already owned, and provide a level of shelter and a range of spaces for different types of drinking and dining. We investigated several options to aid fundraising and support for the project internally, culminating in board-level discussions to kick-start the project prior to developing a final design brief. To the right is a selection of images showing various iterations of the concept design package, including a bespoke awning structure, large spanning terrace deck option, a viewing platform and various arrangements of the containers.
